What tests will be done?
Before enrollment, we will do a general blood test, a test for Chlamydia exposure and a pregnancy test. During the study, we will also do tests of hormone levels, lipids and other factors.
Will I get the results of these tests?
We will give the results of most tests to you, or your physician with your permission.
Will I have to pay for any of the tests or procedures?
No, there is no cost to you for any of the tests or procedures conducted as part of this study. In addition, you will be compensated for your time and travel.
What does "fasting" mean in the BioCycle Study?
"Fasting" means no food or liquid, other than water, for 12 hours prior to your visit.
Will participating in this study hurt me?
This study should not harm you in any way. There may be discomfort with the blood draws, but we have experienced lab techs who make blood collection as painless as possible. There are no reproductive risks.
How long do I have to be off birth control pills to be in the study?
You have to be off "the pill" for at least three months before and while participating in the study.
If I drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes, will this make me ineligible?
No, but we will ask you questions about what you eat and drink.
